Today, the Ife Law ’85 Alumni, The Dayo’s Family, shines a spotlight on one of its beloved members, Pastor Kofo Badejo, (aka Koffi Natty) as we celebrate his birthday. Koffi Natty is not just a member of our esteemed alumni; he is a cherished symbol of fun, love, and faith within our Dayo family.
Koffi Natty And The Legend Of ‘Baby’ We cannot celebrate Pastor Kofo Badejo of today without celebrating the ‘Legend of Baby’ his unforgettable ride in school that also served as the ‘Community Transport Vehicle’ for his close friends during the Great ife days. If you really knew Koffi Natty well in ife days, you can’t think of him without thinking of Baby.
Among the many tales that endear Koffi Natty to us are the legendary stories of ‘Baby,’ his valued first Honda Civic edition car (but really more like a Morris Minor in size😎) while we were at ife. ‘Baby’ wasn’t just any car; it was the ONLY vehicle avaiable for weekend party adventures on campus for his 9 inner circle closest friends , to trawl campus parties that we were most often not exactly invited to.😎
With maximum space for six people, tightly squeezed into its Baby’s tiny interior seats, Koffi’s paddies would often engage in a kind of ‘Hustle-For-a Seat’ game as we fight for seats in the car
As an enduring testament to Koffi Natty’s peaceful nature, Koffi never played favorites or use his prerogative to decide who would get a seat or not —except for Dambo, (a cherished member now of blessed memory), his innermost right-hand man and the official co-financier of Baby’s fueling.
After Dambo has sconces himself in the front seat, the rest his paddies were left to do a serious scrimmage for the remaining seats, often breaking out into ‘fights’ by the car. Koffi never played favorite or try to settle the matter. Instead, He will just patiently wait until the winners of the fight are seated, then he would politely ask all of us to go down and help him push to jumpstart Baby… since baby is hardly ever strong enough to start on its own🤷🏿♂️. Then we will all joke all the way to the party as ‘winners’ boast of their skills and losers often got stranded on campus to ‘fight’ next Saturday. This anecdote perfectly encapsulates Koffi’s ability to bring joy and unity, by staying neutral, even in the most comically competitive situations.
Koffi Natty’s personality is a rare gem; unknown to even many members of the family not very close to him, Koffi Natty is a rocker, mad fun lover per excellence, and sometimes even loud when around his inner caucus friends.
Today , to the Glory of God, Koffi has left ‘Baby’ and his party trawling and gate-crashing days behind. He has now metamorphosed into an even more serious rocker for the things of God, continuing to spread his infectious spirit of joy in the corridors of faith and on church pulpits.
Without a doubt, Koffi Natty is one of the most agreeable members of our Dayo Family, renowned for his very quiet and peaceable nature in the general family room. He is one of the few among us with no record of ever being involved in an argument or fight with another member. He rarely contributes to the banter but when he does, it’s always fun and agreeable unlike some daily troublemakers in our midst that we shall not name😎😎😎
Koffi natty’s big heart and selfless wish for the best for everyone have made him a beloved figure within our group.
As we celebrate Koffi Natty today, we are reminded of the fun and memories that make us a community. His spirit of love and unity is a beacon that inspires us towards greater togetherness, love, mutual respect and support.
Happy Birthday, Koffi Natty!
The entire Dayo Family celebrate you today and appreciate the light you bring into our lives every day, and your inner paddies thank you again for the many rides in ‘Baby’ that brought us closer, through laughter and the thrill of the seat hustle.
